History of Bluff
Yamate (Bluff) was designated as a foreign settlement on July 25, 1867, and since then, houses, churches, and schools for foreigners were built in the area; even after the settlement system was abolished in 1899, many foreigners continued to live in the area, which was devastated by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923.
